Task
Your task as a Battlefield Historian is to research a particular battle of the American Civil War. You will present your findings to the class using a PowerPoint. You may work in groups of two or three. While doing your research use the questions below to develop a deeper understanding of the battle. Keep in mind that these questions are in addition to the "Who, What, Where, When" that is to be included. I want you to do more than scratch the surface. The questions are designed to make you think critically and go beyond what you may already know. Click on process to begin.

- Why was this battle being fought? (ex. resources, land, strategic advantage etc.)
- Who won and how/why did they win?
- What battle field tactics did they use?
- In your opinion did the casualities justify the victory?
- How could the loser of the battle have achieved victory instead of defeat?
